Thumbnail could not be created on an MPEG-2 using Roxio MyDVD Plus

Still getting the 47010 code - thumbnail could not be created when using Roxio MyDVD Plus on an MPEG-2 video file. The only way I can seem to get it to work at all is to convert the file to an .avi before I burn it to DVD. This only makes the process twice as long as being able to just burn the damn thing. Anyone have a better way to fix this problem, please e-mail me. Hack for XP, Vista password via CD

Normally use 'Cain and Abel', but Ophcrack makes it easy by downloading a bootable ISO file that you can just burn to a cd, without all the 'autorun' preparation you would have to do with 'Cain'. Haven't actually tested against any LM or NTLM hashes, so I don't know how good its passy library is or how fast its brute force attack is, but if you want to save the hassle, this is the way to go. Its also not as diverse as 'Cain and Abel', no WEP crack or anything of the sort. Remember, for legal purposes only ;).

KGB (Knowledge Generation Bureau) is looking for contractors. Anyone who has a little extra time on their hands can go to the KGB site (www.kgb.com) and sign up to work as an agent. You can work as much as you want or as little as you want depending on your schedule. Once you have registered, they will give you a little test (fairly easy if you know how to use google and various search resources). You'll get your results back, and depending on how you do, you may start right away. They'll do some shadowing of your first couple of shifts just to make sure your adjusting alright, but then your pretty much on your own. The pay isn't much, but if you are one of those that can move quickly through a search, it's not too bad, especially for sitting on your butt at home.

Removing Internet Explorer Content Advisory password

Problem: Missing or forgotten Internet Explorer password.

Solution:

"How to Remove Content Advisor Password in Internet Explorer
The following steps will remove any password set in the Internet Explorer Content Advisor and allow you to reset the program to its original state.
1) Click on Start and choose Run.
2) Type in RegEdit and select OK.
3) Now click on the little plus sign to the left of H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
4) Continue to drill down, always clicking on the plus sign at the left of the named key, through Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version and Policies.
5) Now click on the Ratings folder.

6) In the right pane of the RegEdit window, you'll see an icon called Key. Click on it and press Delete.
7) Next, choose Registry and then Exit to exit RegEdit. You've just deleted your original Content Advisor password.
8) Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again.
9) Choose View and then Internet Options (or Options for version 3.x). For IE 5 or greater, Click on Tools, Internet Options.
10) Click on the Content tab and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password."
You should backup your registry before you do any modifications.
Disclaimer: Any modification to your registry can cause potential damage to your system. Always make sure you know what you are doing, or get someone who does and always backup, backup, backup.

Slow downloads on BitComet

Problem: Slow downloading of files thru BitComet. Solution: Listening port was being blocked. Instructions: Launch BitComet and pull up the 'options' menu, first tab should be 'connections'. On that panel you should see an option for listening port, click on random and write down the number listed. Close out of BitComet. Pull up the 'control panel', and click on 'network and internet connections', then 'Windows firewall' and go to the 'exceptions' tab, click on the 'add port' button, under TCP add the number you wrote down, then do the same thing for UDP. Close out of the firewall, and pull up a browser. Type in 192.168.1.1 (netgear in this case, might be different for other routers) will pull up the login, if router hasn't been configured, the username should be 'admin' and password should be 'password'. change the local settings to the number written down for both tcp and udp and you should be set.

Problem: Printer spool was crashing and OS was asking for a missing file from install disk, Solution: Completely uninstalled drivers for the HP LaserJet 1020 Printer, and reinstalled. Uninstallation was done from Add/Remove programs list.

Probably the easiest fix I've ever had, but took forever to find it. Anyways here's the solution to the problem. It has to do with the "advanced hardware overlay" within the Divx decoder configuration utility. To get there go All Programs/Divx/Divx Codec/ and select "decoder configuration utility". On the first tab in the panel you should see an option to use the advanced hardware overlay, unselect the option and close out. You should be good to go. Any questions e-mail me.

SpySheriff is a rogue anti-spyware application that uses fake alerts and false positives as a goad into scaring you into purchasing their software. This software is usually installed by Trojans that issue fake security alerts in your Windows taskbar stating that you are infected with a variety of malware. When you click on this warning, SpySheriff will be download and installed and start scanning your system. The malware will also change your Windows desktop to a black background with a warning message stating that your computer is in danger. All of these warnings are being issued as a scare tactic used to scam you into purchasing this software.
